- Letter to the Witness Group from NTSB Chairman, Marion
Blakey
- by Victor Trombettas
-
- Back in late December 2001, several of the eyewitnesses to
the crash to flight 587 were very concerned that their claims
of inflight fires and explosions (many before the separation
of the vertical stabilizer) were being largely ignored.
-
- In early January, they held a press conference where they
read a statement to the Press
announcing they had sent a letter
to the NTSB Board stating their willingness to testify at the
first public hearing; they also mentioned in that letter
they had identified 18 other witnesses to inflight fires.
-
- Below is Chariman Blakey's response dated March 1, 2002.
